The Altruistic Advisor

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines altruism as “an unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others.” Financial advisors who abide by this precept invariably have soaring job satisfaction and much higher client retention.

The critical path to helping a prospect or client is to do the same thing the most successful physicians do, and that is to ask, “Where does it hurt?” Fact-finding is vital in the altruistic advisor relationship. Once the needs of your prospect or client are understood, then proceed with the prescribed altruistic solution.
