Planning Requires a Calendar (Life Events)
Financial advisors have one major characteristic in common: their clients’ and prospects’ needs evolve. People face life events that may be subdued and subtle, such as retirement, or complex and catastrophic, such as a serious illness or even death. Financial advisors should be helping clients schedule and prepare for all major life events. “Scheduled” life events may include investment and retirement planning, getting married and having children, and college funding.
Other life events can only be anticipated, such as a serious illness, disability, or even death. Financial planners have the duty to do all they can to bring awareness and solutions to their clients’ needs through meetings, communications, and recommendations. Client communications in all forms can help keep awareness and needs top of mind. In this way, when an urgency develops, your clients will call you for help.
