Nothing Looks Good or Bad Until It’s Been Compared
Take a moment and let this phrase sink in. It’s a universal saying that can be used in your personal, family, and business interactions, especially business.
Many times I would have prospects explain to me they already had someone helping them with their wealth management, retirement planning, business and/or personal estate planning. I would always commend them for their wisdom to work with someone who may be helping them. And then I would suggest they come in and meet with me to learn more about how our firm assisted others with their financial planning needs. I would close with the statement, “after all, nothing looks good or bad until it’s been compared.”
This gave them pause and they appreciated the wisdom about comparing. And it gave them the nudge in my direction. When I was able to showcase the breadth and depth of our organization and the services we provided, we won most of the business.
